President Tokayev receives Chairman of Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms Zhandos Shaimardanov

Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has received Chairman of the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms Zhandos Shaimardanov, Kazinform News Agency learned from the Akorda press service.

The President was informed about the current trends in national and global economy, and suggestions on how to further implement structural reforms.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was informed about institutional strengthening of the foundations of national statistics and data management.

According to Shairmadanov, the National Statistics Office [structural division of the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms - editor],  is entitled to carry out governmental control over administrative sources. By the end of this year, databases of nine government agencies will undergo quality assessment, he said. This will enable to apply quality standards and international methodology in administrative data sources.

The President was reported about the Agency’s transition from a short-term to middle-term planning of statistical activities for 3 years with the consideration of active use of administrative and alternative information sources.

As Shaimardanov noted, the reforms will let reduce statistical reports twofold, improve data quality and build trust in official statistics.

The President highlighted the importance of quality review of the socio-economic reforms and tasked the Agency to continue working in this area.
