President Tokayev receives Governor of Kostanay region Kumar Aksakalov

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has received today Governor of Kostanay region Kumar Aksakalov, who reported on the region’s socio-economic development in 2023, Kazinform News Agency reports via the Akorda press service.

According to Kumar Aksakalov, the share of industry in the region's GRP surpassed 30%. The range of car models produced in the region is being expanded. For instance, LLP SaryarkaAvtoProm set to the implementation of an investment project on assembly of 30,000 Chevrolet Onix cars on a yearly basis. The cost of the project is 23 billion tenge. The project will enable to create 400,000 new jobs. The region launched also construction of a new plant  together with KIA Corporation. The plant sets a goal to produce 70,000 cars per year and create 1,500 new jobs. Besides, the region plans to build a localization center for the manufacture of vehicle components worth 13 billion tenge.

The President was also informed of water supply issues in the region and construction of social facilities.

Last year the region launched 69 water supply projects to the total amount of 21 billion tenge. 37 projects have already been completed. As a result, 347 villages have been provided with drinking water.

The region is also building three schools for 1,980 students. IQostanay Palace of Schoolchildren was opened. Another nine schools for 7,500 students will be built until 2025. Eight of them will be commissioned under the Comfortable School project.

Under the President’s instruction, local authorities develop a feasibility study for laying the main gas pipeline from Aktobe region to Kostanay region. The implementation of the project will let provide the villages with gas and create favorable conditions for other investment projects.

Upon completion of the meeting, the Head of State tasked Kumar Aksakalov to keep heating issues under control, and to ensure timely implementation of the region’s gasification project and preparation for the spring sowing campaign.
