President Tokayev tasks Cabinet to focus on tourism sector development

The Government and regional authorities must take more decisive measures to improve business climate, Kazinform News Agency quotes President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev as saying at the Government’s extended meeting today.

He said that tourism must become "a new point of economic growth."

The President criticized regional authorities’ poor work in tourism sector, reminding that each region of the country has attractive tourist sites.

In his words, foreign and domestic tourists are willing to visit unique nature reserves of Kazakhstan and emphasized the need to immediately start building necessary infrastructure and attract private investors.

“One should not be ruled by the citizens opposing any measures aimed at enhancing tourism potential, as it occurred with the famous Bozzhyra Gorge in Mangistau region,” the President said stressing the importance of attracting investments to this sector.

“This issue is of strategic importance, and its solution will largely define the future of our economy and Kazakhstan’s position on the world map,” Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized.

Earlier, at the Government's extended meeting, the President said that Kazakhstan needs high-quality investments based on latest technologies.
