President Tokayev visits Table Tennis Center in Taldykorgan
The Head of State, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, familiarized with the operation of the Table Tennis Center in Taldykorgan, built through the public fund Zhetysu-Koldau, Akorda reports.
The building of the Table Tennis Center, built with the use of modern equipment and in accordance with the international standards, houses the children’s and youth table games training and sports tourism school.
According to director Merei Suyunov, alongside tennis, the Center offers togyzkumalak, checkers, chess, arm wrestling and sports tourism classes attended by over 600 trainees, including 33 candidate masters of sport and 41 first-category athletes.
The President was also briefed about the promotion of sports infrastructure in the region. In particular, the physical culture facilities were built in Lepsy village, Alakol district, and Tekeli town, as well as sports complexes in Panfilov and Sarkandy districts. Taldykorgan’s Central Stadium is currently undergoing major repairs.
Construction is underway to build modular complexes to promote mass sport in small villages.
