President told German journalists about Zhanaozen events
"I suppose, you are interested in the events in Zhanaozen. Just imagine, in a German city, where 100 thousand people live, people came out to put economic requirements to their employers. The 20th anniversary of the state was celebrated, the people gathered at the square. At this time, dozens of young people, who used specially prepared alcohol, started to beat our people, policemen, break microphones. What would do the German government? Of course, would protect the safety of people. And we did the same thing. I've been in this city. It's unfortunate that people have died. I went there to express my condolences," N.Nazarbayev said.
The President informed that foreign experts were invited for an open and fair assessment of the events and their coverage.
N.Nazarbayev emphasized that over 20 years such incidents have never happened in Kazakhstan.
