Press conference of Heads of Caspian states held in Baku

BAKU. November 18. KAZINFORM /Arnur Mukhametkarim/ Following results of a plenary session of the III Summit of Heads of Caspian states the presidents are holding a joint press conference.

At the session the sides decided to charge the corresponding departments to discuss and prepare proposals on mechanisms of introducing moratorium on sturgeon fishing in the Caspian Sea for five years at least. Besides, the parties decided to urge the corresponding departments to discuss and agree a width of the national zone on the basis of 24-25 miles including water area, which is covered by sovereignty of a coastal state. The presidents noted that the discussion was held in the spirit of constructivism and mutual understanding.

In particular, Nursultan Nazarbayev announced that signing the Convention on the legal status of the Caspian Sea is the main issue on the agenda.
