Prosecutor General holds meeting with the US Ambassador

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Today the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Kazakhstan Mr. Askhat Daulbayev has held a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the USA to the Republic of Kazakhstan Mr. George Krol, according to the press release of the Prosecutor General's Office.

During the meeting, there have been discussed a wide range of issues of bilateral legal cooperation, in particular the issues of cooperation in the sphere of combating transnational organized crime, cybercrime, terrorism and extremism, human trafficking, money laundering and etc.

The sides have expressed their appreciation for the level of achieved interaction. As Mr. A.Daulbayev has noted, the Prosecutor General's Office of Kazakhstan actively cooperates with American competent authorities on the principles of reciprocity in solving the issues of combating crime, international legal assistance in criminal matters and extradition. In this regard, Mr. Askhat Daulbayev has informed about the work process of ratification of interstate Treaty on mutual legal assistance in criminal matters.

The Prosecutor General has also informed the Ambassador about the establishment of Academy of Law Enforcement Authorities in Kazakhstan under the Prosecutor General's Office and has offered to strengthen the cooperation with the Law Enforcement Academy of the USA.

Holding the Regional Summit on combating violent extremism in Astana in June of this year,that will become continuation of the Washington Summit held in February, has become a separate topic of conversation.

The sides have noted the necessity to strengthen bilateral relations in fight against transnational crime and have expressed their readiness for further development of mutually beneficial cooperation.
