Prospects of development of railway transport discussed

ASTANA. August 21. KAZINFORM Session on "Prospects for the development of railway transport of Kazakhstan by 2020" was held in the Kazakh Ministry of Transport and Communications under the chairmanship of Head of the Ministry Abelgazy Kusainov Thursday, Kazinform refers to the Ministry.

Representatives of the Kazakh Ministry of Economy and Budget Planning, the Kazakh Agency on Regulation of the Natural Monopolies, the Agency for Competition Protection, "Samruk Kazyna" National Welfare Fund, "Kazakhstan Temir Zhloy" National Company" JSC took part in the session.  

Director on corporate development of "Kazakhstan Temir Zholy" Yerken Zhusanbayev reported on "Prospects for the development of railway transport of Kazakhstan by 2020". He noted that the main problem of the railway transport of the country is monopolistic activity and strict tariff and technical regulation. In this regard, establishment of a private institute of transporters is necessary.

A.Kusainov noted that the state of the railway sector requires immediate decisions on possible ways of development taking into account the changes of the market conditions of neighbor countries and the world practice in the reformation of the sector.

The Minister charged to establish an interdepartmental commission for acceleration of adoption of the project on the development of the railway sector.
