Putin submits documents to CEC to be registered as candidate for president

MOSCOW. December 7. KAZINFORM Russia's Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has submitted to the Central Election Commission (CEC) his documents to be registered as a candidate for Russian president in the polls of March 2012.

According to Itar-Tass, the documents, including an application, documents certifying data provided in the application, the certificate of registration of the United Russia party, a protocol of the party congress that nominated Putin a candidate for president, a copy of Putin's Russian passport, his university diploma, and a certificate of earnings in the period from 2007 to 2010, etc., will be checked within the next five days, said Nina Kulyasova, a deputy head of the Central Election Commission's working group.

Putin was nominated as a candidate for Russian president at a congress of the ruling United Russia party on November 27. Putin is the first candidate to officially submit his registration documents to the Central Election Commission.
