QR-based banking services to be available this week in S. Korea
Smartphone users in South Korea will be able to use bank deposits and withdrawal services with QR codes starting this week in addition to the existing near field communications (NFC) system, the central bank said Tuesday, Yonhap reports.
According to the Bank of Korea, 17 local banks will start providing a QR-based banking service for smartphone users Wednesday at some 49,000 ATMs across the country.
Smartphone users can use the QR-based service with their mobile cash card and mobile banking applications, the central bank said.
The mobile cash card application will also provide the locations of QR-based banking service ATMs, it added.
