Quakes jolt China and Afghanistan, Kazakh seismologists
The network of seismic stations recorded on October 11 two separate earthquakes 588 km southeastwards of Almaty in the territory of China and 1,450 km southwestwards of Almaty in the territory of Afghanistan, Kazinform Agency learnt from the seismological field trial expedition of the Kazakh Emergency Situations Ministry.
The quake in China was recorded at 06:15:22 a.m. Almaty time. The 4.2 magnitude earthquake occurred at a depth of 20 km. the quake in the territory of Afghanistan was registered at 06:44:05 am. Almaty time. The 6.5 magnitude quake occurred at a depth of 10 km.
