Rangers die in forest fire in Zhambyl rgn

TARAZ. KAZINFORM - Strong winds and a heat wave drove forest fires in Merkenskiy district of the Zhambyl region this weekend.

Two rangers went missing in a mountain gorge in Merkenskiy district on July 26 after struggling to bring a wildfire there under control. No one heard from Bakhytbek Umbetov, 24, and Bakhytzhan Yegizbayev, 47, who had been dispatched to the area since Saturday. Three days later rescuers discovered their badly-burnt bodies on the territory of the mountain gorge.
