PARIS. April 28. KAZINFORM A rare recording of Louis Armstrong performing live towards the end of his life has been released.

On January 29th 1971, an ailing Armstrong took to the stage of the National Press Club in Washington, the euronews reports.

It became the last recording of Armstrong playing trumpet before his death less than six months later.

Amy Louviere, daughter of former National Press Club President Vernon Louviere, was 11 at the time of the show:
"When it came time for the pictures, we were lining up with Mr Armstrong and his wife, my parents and you know he was trying to get me to smile and said say 'spaghetti' instead of 'say cheese.'

Armstrong, nicknamed Satchmo, suffered from heart and kidney problems towards the end of his life.
