Rare snow leopard spotted in eastern Kazakhstan

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - A rare snow leopard has popped up in eastern Kazakhstan, according to the press service of the United Nations Development Program in Kazakhstan.

A camera trap caught a view of the rare animal on the territory of Katon-Karagay national park in East Kazakhstan region. This is the first time ever the snow leopard has been spotted in the park. Snow Leopard Conservation Fund (SLF) joined forces with Kazakhstani national parks to install 50 camera traps countrywide. It is believed that the equipment will help monitor and develop measures to preserve snow leopard and other rare species in eastern Kazakhstan.
