Recep Tayyip Erdogan arrives in Astana to attend SCO summit
Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan was greeted by Head of the Kazakh Government Olzhas Bektenov at the airport of the Kazakh capital Astana, Kazinform News Agency cites the press service of the Kazakh government.
The leader of Türkiye, a SCO dialogue partner, is to attend the 24th meeting of the Council of the Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization set to take place on July 3-4 in Astana.
To note, Türkiye is among the top five trade partners of Kazakhstan and top 20 investor countries in the Kazakh economy.
In four months of this year, both countries trade for 1.6 billion US dollars. The governments of the two countries seek to ensure progressive growth in the mutual trade to at least 10 billion US dollars.
President of Russia Vladimir Putin, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, President of Mongolia Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov have already arrived in Astana for the SCO summit.
Chinese Chairman Xi Jinping, who is on his state visit to Kazakhstan, will also attend the 24th meeting of the Council of the Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
