Reduction of projects funding in road - transport sector leads to about 10,000 jobs cut: S.Akhmetov

ASTANA. January 1. KAZINFORM /Zauresh Balkenova/ Reduction of financing of adopted plans on development in the road - transport sector will call about 10 thousands jobs cut, bankruptcy of a number of large domestic road construction companies. It will entail losses in an accumulated 7-year potential of this sector. Kazakh Minister of Transport and Communications Serik Akhmetov has announced such forecast of development at the Ministry?s Collegium; Kazinform reports.

According to the Minister, worsening of the situation in the sector is expected in autumn, 2009. For realization of anti-recessionary measures the Minister considers that it is necessary ?to overview all development programs and announce moratorium on spending and investments for all entities of the sector?. He noted that the industry employs more than 300 thousand people, and taking into account their families, well-being of more than 1 million people depends on the transport industry.
