Reps of World Bank and Kazakh Commerce Chamber discussed problems and prospects of CU

ALMATY. November 9. KAZINFORM A meeting of World Bank consultant David Tarr and World Bank regional coordinator Ekaterina Vashakmadze with Vice President on strategic development of the Kazakh commerce and Industry Chamber Galym Amanzholov has been held in Almaty today.

Regional representative of the Russian Chamber of Industry and Commerce in Central Asia Victor Zhigulin and Chairman of the Council of the Kazakh Association of Customs Brokers Genady Shestkov took part in the meeting as well.

G.Amanzholov informed the participants on the activity of the working group under the Single Coordinating Council under the Kazakh Government and issues discussed together with the governmental bodies. The Customs Union working group works on selection and summary of issues arising from business structures in order to inform the governmental authorities and make decisions.

G.Shestakov briefed the guests on the situation before and after adoption of the single Customs Code. According to him, many manufacturers were not ready to Kazakhstan's accession to the Customs Union.

Besides, the issues of interests protection of the Kazakhstani manufacturers, removing administrative barriers and others were discussed at the meeting as well.

Upon the results of the meeting G.Amanzholov said that the Government was ready to start a dialogue with businessmen and resolve problems together.
