Rescuers searching for a man who fell into 300m salt mine

ATYRAU. December 8. KAZINFORM Rescuers are trying to reach the bottom of a 300m salt mine in Indersk district of Atyrau region.

"A man fell into the mine on December 6. The 50-year-old resident of Inderborsk settlement fell into the abandoned salt mine. His relatives and family were trying to get into the mine, but ceased efforts and called for help. The reps of the regional emergencies department spent Friday, December 7, in the attempts to get to the bottom of the mine, but failed to get lower than 100m. They put the rescue operation on hold only after nightfall. Rescuers from Astana will come to help their colleagues from Atyrau," head of the press service of the regional internal affairs department Gulnazira Mukhtarova informed.

The rescue operation is to resume today.
