Residents of Astrakhan to take part in celebration of 550th anniversary of Kazakh Khanate

ATYRAU. KAZINFORM - Celebration of the 550th anniversary of the Kazakh Khanate will be held in near-border Astrakhan region of Russia, the press service of the regional administration informs.

"Some events will be held in the districts of Astrakhan region, a part of the territory of which belongs to Bokei orda. Bokei orda was established by Bokei khan in the early 19 th century. Expanding his territory, he moved to the lower reach of the interfluve area of the Volga and Ural Rivers and it was the beginning of the Bokei Khanate. In 1830, the Bokei Khanate had 20 thousand households and 80 thousand people. Bokei khan went down in history as a person and politician who made a great contribution to development of the economy and rapprochement of the cultures of both states. Besides, the mausoleum of Bokei khan is in Astrakhan region where some of the celebratory events are scheduled to be held," the press service of the regional administration informs.
