Results of ?Kazakhstan Temir Zholy? work in 2008 discussed
ASTANA. January 15. KAZINFORM. Vice President of ?Kazakhstan Temir Zholy? National Company JSC Yermek Kizatov has reported today on the results of the Company?s work in 2008 and plans for 2009 at the extended session of the Kazakh Ministry of Transport and Communications with the participation of Prime Minister Karim Massimov; Kazinform refers to the press service of the Company.
Y. Kizatov noted that ?Kazakhstan Temir Zholy? successfully dealt with the task in the sphere of freight and passenger transportation set for 2008.
?The volume of transportations increased up to 3% and amounted to 269 mln tons to the level of 2007?, the Vice President said. ?The cargo turnover in 2008 amounted to 215 bln ton-kilometers that is by 7% more than in 2007. Herein, the increase takes place in all types of transportation?.
In addition, the National Company made a capital repair of 480 kilometers of the railway, purchased 2 420 cargo wagons, renewed 63 locomotives and 700 container units and bought railway equipment. Investment volumes were increased through raise in tariffs.
The anti-recessionary program for 2009 was developed to ease negative influence of the world economy crisis on production and financial activity of the National Company. The program provides with measures on reduction of expenses depending on cargo turnover reduction.
