Revival of Great Silk Road seen as biggest project of modern era
"This forum's agenda is dedicated to the issues of infrastructural modernization. One of the key problems of the Eurasia development is the revival of the Great Silk Road. China, Russia, Kazakhstan and a number of other countries in the region work actively to build a unified platform for cooperation in the sphere of trade, transport and logistics infrastructure," Mr. Sagintayev said at a conference themed "Revival of the Great Silk Road: new economic perspectives" within the framework of the 8th Astana Economic Forum in the Kazakh capital on Thursday. In his words, China is currently developing the One Belt, One Road Initiative which calls for the creation of a new communications system of cross-border cooperation. "Kazakhstan is an active participant of the Silk Road Economic Belt Initiative as well. And I truly believe that the revival of the Silk Road is one of the biggest projects of modern era," Mr. Sagintayev added.
