STOCKHOLM. November 18. KAZINFORM The Russia-EU summit opened in Stockholm on Wednesday; Kazinform refers to ITAR-TASS.

Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, presidential aide Sergei Prikhodko, Minister of Economic Development Elvira Nabiullina and Minister of Natural Resources Yuri Trutnev also represented Russia at the negotiations.

The leaders of the countries shook hands in the presence of journalists, and then the negotiations were held behind closed doors.

The negotiations continued the dialogue launched on Tuesday. The informal talks were held at dinner on Tuesday, spokeswoman for the Russian president Natalia Timakova told Itar-Tass. "The president and the premier discussed Russian-Swedish relations, economic cooperation between the countries, as well as separate issues of the international agenda: Russia-EU cooperation, the Middle East settlement, Iran and Afghanistan," Timakova said.

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev invited Swedish Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt to visit Moscow in order to finalize as soon as possible a package of bilateral agreements, which the countries failed to sign at the bilateral negotiations in here on Wednesday.

"Certainly, we are interested in the development of the contractual segment of our relations. We are already aware today that several Memoranda have been drafted and could be signed even here in Stockholm, but we decided not to do it for some unclear reasons. Probably, so that our colleagues could meet again and sign these documents in Moscow or Stockholm," the Russian president told a press conference after bilateral negotiations in the Swedish capital.

"The drafting of the whole range of documents on health care issues, law enforcement cooperation and some other issues are in store for us that I consider very important for our countries. Therefore, we agreed to intensify these processes and prepare these documents for signing," Medvedev went on to say; Kazinform cites ITAR-TASS.
