Rice, potato and buckwheat production up in Kazakhstan

The Kazakh Agriculture Ministry reported a positive growth trend for the past 10 months, Kazinform News Agency reports.

According to Agriculture Minister Aidarbek Saparov agricultural quantum index rose by 12.7% against the same period of the previous year to hit 7.1 trillion tenge. Crop production grew by 18.8% to make 4,424.9 billion tenge and cattle breeding increased by 3.3% to reach 2,578,4 billion tenge.

Kazakhstan harvested this year a record-high 26.7 million tons of grain that is 1.5 times more against 2023 (17.1 million tons of grain).

He added rice, buckwheat, oil-bearing crops and potation production also rose.

This year farmers collected 563,100 tons of rice that is 16% more compared to 2023 (485,200 tons), and 118,100 tons of buckwheat, 42% up compared to 2023. The gross yield of oilseeds amounted to 3.2 million tons that is 46% more against the previous year with 2.2 million tons. 2.9 million tons of potato was harvested this year that is 40% more than in 2023.
