Road blocked in Almaty region after avalanche

An avalanche occurred near the Asy Observatory in Almaty region on 24th km of road of regional significance from Turgen village to Batan tract, Kazinform News Agency correspondent reports.

The Almaty region administration office said that at 11:35 am on February 9, due to unstable snowpack an avalanche occurred in Yenbekshikazakh district near the Asy Observatory on 24th km of Turgen village to Batan tract road.

It was informed that due to the avalanche the road from 15km will be closed for traffic till May 1, 2024.

Works are ongoing to eliminate the aftermath of the avalanche, said the admonistration office.

No victims were reported.
