Road for traffic on ‘Kordai Bypass’ section of ‘WE-WC’ corridor to be completed later this year
Contractors of the project are "Kazahdorstroy" LLP, "KCC JV / Zhambylzhol-kurylys" LLP, "K-Dorstroi" LLP, "SP Kazahdorstroy / Hyundai" LLP, "KCC" LLP, and "AKM" LLP. Full completion of the project is scheduled for 2015, after the completion of the 65-kilometer stretch bypassing the town of Taraz. Foundations, berms (islets for road signs) and road signs are being installed according to working documentation. Construction of bridges and overpasses are 95% completed. Asphalt concrete pavement is laid on 4 bridges. Waterproofing works are being held on 3 bridges. The axis of the new highway in Zhambyl region extends mainly to the existing highway Almaty - Tashkent - Termez to bypass the territory of Kyrgyzstan. The road includes construction of detours on passes Kuyuk, Shakpak, Taraz, and a number of settlements (Shakpak-ata, B.Momyshuly, Aisha-Bibi, Kulan, Kordai). A tunnel will be constructed in the area between Shymkent and Taraz.
