Role and significance of Chingiz Aitmatov’s legacy in the spotlight at int’l conf in Bishkek

Heads of parliamentary delegations and deputies of the CIS member states took part in the international conference dated to the 95th anniversary of Chingiz Aitmatov as part of the CIS IPA autumn session held in Bishkek, Kazinform Agency reports.

Delivering an address head of the Zhogorku Kenesh of Kyrgyzstan Nurlanbek Shakiyev expressed confidence that the international conference would contribute to a wider discussion of boundless thoughts, the rich heritage of Chingiz Aitmatov.

Addressing those present Kazakh Senate chairman Maulen Ashimbayev highlighted the role and significance of the legacy of Kyrgyz writer Chingiz Aitmatov describing him as a golden bridge between the two nations. His works hold pride of place in the history of world literature as a symbol of humanism, morality and ethics.

Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Kyrgyzstan, Prof. Abdylzhaman Akmataliyev was awarded the Chingiz Aitmatov Prize during the conference.

As earlier reported, the CIS IPA autumn session is being held in Bishkek this November 16-17. An international conference, dated to the 85th anniversary of the Zhogorku Kenesh of Kyrgyzstan, also took place.  The parliamentarians of the CIS member states are set to take part today in the 56th session of th CIS IPA.
