Role of social media discussed in Astana
More than 20 foreign experts in the sphere of state administration, development of information communication technologies and electronic government took part in the event organized by the Ministry of Investment and Development of Kazakhstan jointly with the department for economic and social issues of the UN.
Minister of Investment and Development of Kazakhstan Asset Issekeshev, Head of the communication committee Saken Sarsenov, Vincenzo Aquaro, Chief of E-Government Branch (E-GB) of the Division for Public Administration and Development Management of the United Nations, United Nations Assistant Secretary-General for Economic Development in the Department of Economic and Social Affairs Lenni Montiel, Director General of the RCC Executive Committee Nurudin Mukhitdinov, Vice President of the IDC Steven Frantzen and other delivered their speeches at the conference.
"The theme of the conference is very important. Before, social media resources were used as a means of communication and entertainment but now it's changed and they are becoming platform for bringing information, discussion platforms, means for social mobilization and means for financing sustainable development," the organizers of the conference told.
The participants discussed the issues of electronic government, role of governmental information and private sector in sustainable development. Head of the committee for communication and information Saken Sarsenov told about the plans on establishment of the public corporation "Government for people" and on ensuing online access to the database of the central state bodies.
Besides, the report of the UN on development of the electronic government was presented at the conference. In general, foreign experts highly praised the experience of Kazakhstan in the sphere of development of the electronic government. Thus, Kazakhstan is ranked 28 th among 193 countries in terms of the electronic government development according to the UN.
