Rudny girl alleged killer sent for psychiatric tests

KOSTANAY. KAZINFORM - A municipal court in Rudny town on Monday (July 28) ordered an alleged kidnapper and killer of the 7-year-old Victoria Ganya to undergo psychiatric tests to establish if he is criminally responsible for murdering the girl.

The court ruled that the suspect must be referred for a mental health evaluation in the republican center of psychiatry and narcology in Almaty.

As reported earlier, Victoria Ganya, 7, was abducted on April 24, 2014 in Rudny. According to witnesses, an unknown European man approached her and lured out of the yard where she was playing with her friends. After a 30-day region-wide search, her lifeless body was found near the Rudny-Tobol motorway.

Rudny police arrested the 19-year-old resident of the Kostanay region on July 23 who later confessed to abducting and killing the 7-year-old. The suspect is currently unemployed and resides at the Regional Center of Social Adaption. According to reports, the nabbed killer spent his childhood in orphanages and has mental problems.
