Russia keeps on loosing its power exports market share with energy imports from Kazakhstan doubling in 2013. It proved advantageous for Inter RAO to buy power from Ekibastuz GRES power plant 2 than to fill its own capacities in Siberia. Russia doubled energy imports from Kazakhstan from 1.97 bln kWh in 2012 to 3.9 bln kWh in 2013. Its export to Kazakhstan decreased by 27% to 1.67 bln kWh, Inter RAO reports. As the for the imports, the point at issue is the delivery from Ekibastuz GRES power plant 2, mainly towards the Omsk region. Russia is the net exporter of electric energy, but its export volumes are declining gradually in recent years. Inter RAO total export dropped by 4% to 17.5 bln kWh whereas its import grew by 75% to hit 4.56 bln kWh, basically, due to Kazakhstan's supplies, the message reads.
