Russia, Kazakhstan establish joint common border control
MOSCOW. October 23. KAZINFORM Russia's parliament, the State Duma, ratified an inter-governmental agreement with Kazakhstan on joint border control, the RIA Novosti news agency reported on Friday; Kazinform refers to Xinhua.
According to the agreement, the parties control the flows of people, consignments, vehicles and exchange the information about the results. In emergency situations, the joint control could be postponed.
The agreement is part of the judicial base of a Customs Union designed to ease the border-crossing process between its member countries -- Russia, Kazakhstan, and Belarus.
Also on Friday, the State Duma ratified an agreement on customs duties on the goods moving between the three states; Kazinform cites Xinhua.
