Russia’s emergencies ministry ready to help Greece fight wildfires
MOSCOW. August 24. KAZINFORM Russia's Emergencies Ministry is ready to help Greece to fight wildfires, the ministry's information department told Itar-Tass on Monday; Kazinform cites Itar-Tass.
"The Emergencies Ministry will send two planes - Il-76 and Be-200 to fight wildfires in Greece if need be," a ministry official said.
The Greek fire service reported that fires subsided north of Athens, while new wind-driven fires threatened Kithairon Mountain off the eastern coast of the Gulf of Corinth. Five helicopters were engaged in the fire-fighting operation; Kazinform refers to Itar-Tass.
