Russian cargo spaceship undocks from ISS
"The Progress will be deorbited on April 28 and sink in the Pacific Ocean upon its reentry," Mission Control told reporters.
During its autonomous flight to Earth after the undocking, the cargo spaceship will be used for geophysical experiment "Radar-Progress," which will be conducted by the Siberian Institute of Solar-Earth Physics of the Russian Academy of Science.
Scientists are going to explore how the Earth's ionosphere responds to the work of the space vehicle's boosters.
The radar participating in the experiment is located in the Irkutsk region in southern Siberia.
Progress M-14M was launched on Jan. 26 and docked with the ISS two days later. The spaceship delivered a 2.6-ton consignment, including water, food, oxygen and various scientific equipment to the ISS, Xinhua reports.
Progress freighters have been the backbone of the Russian space cargo fleet for decades.
