S Kazakhstan, Almaty, Zhambyl and Aktobe regions to be provided with broadband Internet in 2011

ASTANA. January 10. KAZINFORM /Muratbek Makulbekov/ This year residents of South Kazakhstan, Almaty, Zhambyl and Aktobe oblasts are to be provided with broadband Internet.

Minister of Communications and Information Askar Zhumagaliyev has announced it at today's session.

"We elaborated the project along with Kazakhtelecom JSC and Ministry of Internal Affairs, allocated corresponding frequencies. The Republican Budgetary Commission decided to devote funds. The Ministry of Internal Affairs will change its frequency resources and transfer to other ranges. And we will have an opportunity to provide rural areas with broadband Internet", A Zhumagaliyev said.

According to him, at present Kostanay oblast has broadband Internet. It is planned to provide the rural residents of South Kazakhstan, Almaty, Zhambyl and Aktobe oblasts with broadband Internet. Other regions will be provided with broadband Internet in 2012.
