S. Korea finds suspected case of foot-and-mouth disease
SEOUL. April 25. KAZINFORM South Korea discovered a suspected case of foot-and-mouth disease at a cattle farm in Mungyeong, about 190 kilometers southeast of its capital Seoul, according to the farm ministry on Wednesday, Xinhua said.
One of the 17 cattle at the farm showed symptoms, and that the ministry has taken samples for close examination, the Ministry of Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries said in a statement.
The results are expected to come out on Thursday morning, it said.
South Korea killed more than 3 million cattle and pigs because of the outbreak of the contagious disease last winter, which was the fifth of the kind since 2000 and the most devastating.
