S Korean province Jeollabuk-do hosts Wind of Kazakhstan economic forum
A delegation of Almaty region’s administration participated in Wind of Kazakhstan economic forum held in South Korean province of Jeollabuk-do, Kazinform News Agency refers to the Kazakh Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Those attending the event were also the two countries’ businessmen and academic experts.
Addressing the participants with a welcoming remark, Kazakh Ambassador Nurgali Arystanov spoke on Kazakhstan’s interest in developing cooperation with Jeollabuk-do province in agriculture, smart farms, digital trade, construction, and technology transfer. Korean businessmen got familiarized themselves with investment and tourism potential of Kazakhstan.
It should be noted that Jeollabuk-do province had established productive cooperation with Kyzylorda and Almaty regions and is expanding economic, cultural and humanitarian ties with them.
Governor of Jeollabuk-do Province Kim Kwan-young also expressed his readiness to deepen cooperation in the areas of mutual interest. He reminded of the recent visit of a delegation from Jeollabuk-do to Kazakhstan as part of the Days of Culture of Korea in our country.
The programme of the event includes visits to economic facilities as well as bilateral meetings of businessmen in B2B format, during which promising joint projects were discussed.
Kazakhstan-Korea trade and economic interaction shows positive dynamics today, the Kazakh MFA says. In January-October 2023, bilateral trade turnover amounted to 5.3 billion US dollars, as a result of which Korea continues to remain the 4th largest trading partner of Kazakhstan. In January-June 2023, 717 million US dollars of Korean direct investment was attracted, exhibiting a 30% increase compared to the same period in 2022. Thus, South Korea remains the 6th largest investor of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
