Sadyr Zhaparov, Shavkat Mirziyoyev hold talks in Tashkent

President of the Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov met with Uzbek leader Shavkat Mirziyoyev in Tashkent within the framework of his state visit to Uzbekistan in narrow and extended formats, Kabar reports. 

The sides discussed topical issues of bilateral interaction on a wide range of issues, exchanged views on the prospects of trade and economic cooperation, investments and implementation of joint projects in energy, agriculture and others.

Welcoming Sadyr Zhaparov, Shavkat Mirziyoyev highly appreciated the socio-economic reforms carried out under the leadership of Sadyr Zhaparov, particularly noted the economic growth, prosperity of industrial production, creation of new infrastructure projects.

The president of Uzbekistan expressed confidence that today's meeting will make it possible to deeply analyze the implementation of previously reached agreements and all existing issues, as well as to work out a new agenda of mutually beneficial cooperation for the future.

In turn, Sadyr Zhaparov thanked his counterpart for the official invitation to pay a state visit to Uzbekistan, warm reception and special attention to Kyrgyzstan as a whole.

The Kyrgyz president expressed gratitude for the humanitarian aid sent to Kyrgyz people affected by the flooding in Nookat region of Osh Oblast.

The issues of state borders have been resolved, joint projects in economy, energy, transportation, humanitarian and other fields are being actively promoted, inter-parliamentary and interregional cooperation is gaining momentum. Strengthening multifaceted cooperation with Uzbekistan is an undoubted priority of Kyrgyzstan's foreign policy," the Kyrgyz leader emphasized.

He noted that the governments of the two countries have set a goal to double the volume of mutual trade in the coming years. The governments continue to work actively to implement the agreements reached between the parties. Large joint investment, transportation and energy projects are being consistently implemented.

Noting Kyrgyzstan's interest in the earliest completion of the process of border demarcation with Uzbekistan and bringing bilateral relations to the level of alliance, Zhaparov recalled the agreement reached following last year's state visit of the Uzbek president to Kyrgyzstan - the establishment of the Supreme Interstate Council.

In his speech, Sadyr Zhaparov expressed interest in further intensifying trade and economic relations with brotherly Uzbekistan, increasing the volume of mutual trade and joint implementation of major investment projects.

He also expressed confidence that the governments of the sides will successfully implement all the agreements, signed agreements and contracts on the results of the Kyrgyz-Uzbek business forum held the previous day.

Among the projects being implemented, the president singled out a plant for the assembly of cars and agricultural machinery, as well as a factory for the production of textiles in Chui Oblast.

Noting cultural and humanitarian cooperation, the head of state said that the ongoing Days of Culture of Kyrgyzstan in Uzbekistan, which include a series of events, are aimed at familiarizing the Uzbek audience with the culture of the Kyrgyz people.

During the talks, the leaders of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan substantively discussed the whole range of bilateral cooperation and prospects for its development.

In particular, issues related to education and science, healthcare, transportation and logistics interaction, tourism and others.

In conclusion, the sides expressed confidence that the reached agreements will become a bright guide for the two states in achieving concrete results and practical realization of the outlined plans for the near and long-term perspective.
