Sales turnover between Almaty, China hits $5.5 bln

ALMATY. KAZINFORM - Almaty mayor Akhmetzhan Yessimov has received today Political Commissar of Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps Mr. Che Jun in Almaty, Kazinform has learnt from the city administration's press service.

In a meeting, Mr. Yessimov noted that Almaty and China enjoy high dynamics of partnership. "During his visit to China in May, President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev suggested making Almaty the center of the new Silk Road. Sales turnover between Almaty and China increased by 35% and reached $5.5 billion in 2013. In the first quarter of 2014, sales turnover have already exceeded $1 billion," he stressed. Mr. Che, in turn, expressed interest in expanding cooperation with Almaty city. Agriculture, logistics and construction were named as the most attractive spheres for cooperation.
