The highest growth was recorded in the international transportation segment, where passenger traffic increased by 43%, with February (+59%), April (60%), May (+62%) and June (+69%) becoming the record months for the year.

The main factors in this growth are the effective development of cooperation with existing airlines and the attraction of new partners. Thanks to this, Samarkand Airport continues strengthening its position as a key transport hub in the region.

In 2024, more than 1.31 million passengers were served on international routes. The most popular flights were from Samarkand to Moscow, Istanbul, Saint Petersburg, Abu Dhabi, and Jeddah.

The number of takeoff and landing operations at Samarkand Airport in 2024 increased by 23% compared to last year – to 11 thousand.

Among the new destinations are Xi'an (China), Sharm El Sheikh (Egypt), Turkestan (Kazakhstan), Tyumen, Nizhny Novgorod and Irkutsk (Russia).

It is worth noting that Air Marakanda, which manages the terminal of Samarkand International Airport, continues to develop the level of service and expand the number of services provided. Last year, the airport introduced such innovations as a special call button for passengers with disabilities, with which you can instantly contact an employee and get the necessary assistance. Free luggage scales appeared in the terminal, which greatly simplified the flight preparation process.

Three 24-hour car rental points of international companies Hertz, SIXT and Europcar have opened. Additional SIM card sales points, accessories, and jewelry stores have appeared. New cafes and pastry shops offer services in the terminal, which makes staying at the airport more comfortable.

As Air Marakanda leadership notes, the company’s strategic course aims to expand the route network and improve the quality of service.

Plans for 2025 include opening new destinations, further modernization of the airport infrastructure, and introducing digital services to simplify interaction with passengers.

Earlier, Kazinform reported that 8.4 billion tenge is required to restore the Arkalyk Airport in Kostanay region of Kazakhstan.
