Samruk Kazyna and Rixos to build Kenderli resort

KAZINFORM. ASTANA - Eight thousand villas and cottages, as well as more than 20 hotels and inns will be built in Kenderli resort in Mangystau region, this was announced at today's press conference of the Department of Tourism under the Ministry of Investment and Development.

"Real Estate Fund" Samruk-Kazyna" JSC has signed a cooperation agreement with "RIXOS" group of companies to implement the first phase of the construction. "As part of the first phase of the project it is planned to build two hotels (4 and 5 stars), a water park, an aqua park and cottages. Total design capacity of the resort will be more than 20 hotels, 8 thousand villas and cottages", the department said. Total USD 3.3 billion was invested in the project. According to preliminary estimates, Kenderli resort will annually attract more than 640 thousand tourists by 2020. The implementation of export-oriented project (70% foreign and 30% local tourists) will create about 54 thousand new jobs. Forecasted annual revenue will reach USD 800 million. Under "Green Bridge" partnership program adopted by the UN, the construction of the Kenderli resort will be on high standards of 4th generation resorts and in the manner of sustainable development. Currently, Mangystau region's administration is working on establishing engineering and transport infrastructure of the resort. Feasibility study has been developed for the construction of the international airport "Kenderli."
