Sanzhar Tashkenbay claims silver at 2024 ASBC Elite Men Boxing Championships

Sanzhar Tashkenbay of Kazakhstan stepped into the ring against Shodiyorjon Melikuziev of Uzbekistan in the Men’s 48kg final match.

The Uzbek athlete won the first round of the bout with a score of 4:1. Tashkenbay was stronger in the second round with the same score. The Kazakh athlete was knocked down in the third round.

Thus, Shodiyorjon Melikuziev defeated the Kazakh boxer via split decision, becoming the first champion of the ASBC Asian Elite Men Boxing Championships. Sanzhar Tashkenbay claimed silver.

Sanzhar Tashkenbay is the current holder of both the World and Asian championship titles.

A total of 9 Kazakh athletes compete for a gold medal. Another 6 athletes will fight against Uzbek boxers.
