Saudabayev held several bilateral meetings in Geneva
K.Saudabayev and N.Pillay discussed the issues of further cooperation of Kazakhstan with the OHCHR. K.Saudabayev has said that Kazakhstan supports the review of the Human Rights Council's activity started last year. The country also adheres to the position that a reasonable balance between the political and civil rights on one side and economic, social and cultural rights on the other side must be always maintained in work of the Council.
The Kazakh Minister informed about the consistent work of our country on strengthening the human rights protection system, ensuring the basic right to quality education, healthcare, resolution of social problems.
N.Pillay highly appraised the level of cooperation with Kazakhstan, in particular, the measures taken by the country on further modernization of the human rights protection system.
She also appraised the results of the Kazakhstan's OSCE presidency and emphasized the addressing tolerance issues. N.Pillay expressed expectations from the upcoming presidency of Kazakhstan in the OIC.
Further development of cooperation between Kazakhstan and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees were discussed at the meeting of K.Saudabayev and High Commissioner António Guterres.
A.Guterres expressed satisfaction with the results of hic recent visit to Kazakhstan. "We are grateful to Kazakhstan for close cooperation with our Office and appreciate Kazakhstan's adopting a range of legislative amendments aimed at improvement of the regulation on treatment of refugees," he said.
The sides discussed particular directions of further cooperation such as organization of the international conference on the issues of refugees' treatment in spring in Almaty.
At the meeting with Director-General of UNOG Sergei Ordzhonikidze K.Saudabayev addressed issues of bilateral interaction, Kazakhstan's participation in the UN work.
S.Ordzhonikidze said that Kazakhstan was an active participant of the international relations. "The OSCE Summit in Astana was a great success of the Kazakh diplomacy," he said.
The interlocutors emphasized the importance of the entry into force of the Treaty establishing the Central Asian Nuclear Free Zone. The UN official thanked Kazakhstan for support of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty's entry into force.
The contribution of Kazakhstan to strengthening the global security was complimented as well.
The sides discussed the situation in Central Asian region as well. In particular, opportunities for more active participation of international organizations in provision of security in Central Asian states were addressed.
Regarding the international problems, the interlocutors discussed the situation in North Africa and measures on its stabilization taken by the world community.
