Schools face closure in four villages in Ulytau region due to a shortage of schoolchildren, Kazinform Agency learnt from the regional akimat’s press service.

Governor Berik Abdygaliuly charged district governors to implement the voluntary relocation of families from south to north program in the small rural settlements to tackle the pupils’ shortage crisis.

According to head of the employment and social programs coordination department Nurzhan Orynbayev, nine families were resettled as part of The strong regions - the country’s development driver project.

The governor stressed attention should be paid primarily to the regions where the number of pupils is continuing to decrease.

He added, the housing problem should take centre stage. All the  relocated families should be provided with housing. Besides, grants and loans and other projects aimed at entrepreneurship development should be implemented firstly in the least populated villages. The governor said one way or another it is crucial to avoid closure of educational facilities.
