SCO approved draft counternarcotics strategy for 2011-2016

ASTANA. March 30. KAZINFORM /Serik Sabekov/ Representatives of the SCO member states have approved a draft counternarcotics strategy for 2011-2016 and a program on its implementation in Astana today.

"We have discussed issues of practical interaction, developed measures on further enhancement of joint struggle against drug business and drug addiction, approved the working groups," Kazakh Internal Affairs Minister Serik Baimagambetov noted.

The counternarcotics strategy sets out the general directions for improving the system of countering illicit drug trafficking, drug prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of drug addicts. It was noted that the joint efforts of the SCO member states within the framework of the strategy would be an effective form of struggle against drug trafficking.
