SCO heads of counternarcotics agencies to meet in Astana

ASTANA. March 28. KAZINFORM /Kanat Kulshmanov/ A meeting of heads of counternarcotics agencies of the SCO member states will be held in Astana on March 30. Official representative of the Kazakh Foreign Ministry Askar Abdrakhmanov has made it public at the briefing today.

"The senior officials meeting of the SCO member states counternarcotics agencies was held in Astana on March 24-25. The sides agreed draft counternarcotics strategy for 2011-2016 and draft program on the execution of the strategy at the meeting. The agreed documents are planned to be adopted at the anniversary Summit of the SCO in Astana on July 15, 2011," A.Abdrakhmanov said.

According to him, the strategy is aimed at modernizing cooperation between the authorized bodies of the SCO member states on reduction of illegal drugs and precursors trafficking as well as non-medical use of drugs in the region.
