SCO Sec Gen B. Nurgaliyev: customs services must promote regional economic coop
As the Sec Gen noted the SCO countries are united in their striving for joint progress and ensuring well-being of our countries. Thus, provision of stability and security, struggle against terrorism, separatism and extremism, drug-trafficking as well as expansion and strengthening economic interaction are the priority challenges for the SCO.
"In this view, I would like to note that joint activity of the SCO countries' customs services especially in development of passenger service and cargo transportation, fight with law offences in customs affairs which damage national economic interests is of paramount importance for achieving these aims", Nurgaliev stressed.
"A special group on customs cooperation has been created within the SCO", he added.
At the October sitting of the SCO Prime Ministers held in Beijing it was noted that our countries stood for further deepening of customs cooperation, simplification of the procedures in trade, increase of delivery capacity and efficiency of work of the border-crossing points, optimization of border infrastructure with the aim of promoting trade-economic cooperation in the region.
Besides, the sitting proposed an initiative on enhancing partnership among SCO customs services in exchange of information and creation of favorable conditions for passing customs procedures through improvement of infrastructure at border entry points.
"I am confident that through joint forces, dialogue and exchange of experience our countries will reach important agreements on the abovementioned issues. Joining our efforts and basing on good-neighborhood and friendship among our nations we will be able to reach stable economic development, improvement of people's well-being, solution of the problems of employment and ensuring peace, security and stability", the SCO Sec Gen noted.
"I would like to highlight especially importance of the Sian initiative on stimulation of security and favoring trade", Nurgaliyev resumed.
