Sec of State to take part in international conference <i>Overcoming nuclear threat</i> in Rome

ASTANA. April 13. KAZINFORM /Aigul Tulekbayeva/ Kazakhstan Secretary of State Kanat Saudabayev will take part in an international conference ?Overcoming nuclear threat? in Rome on April 16-17; the Kazakh MFA informed Kazinform.

The main goal of the conference is creation of a dialog platform on a common vision of a nuclear-free planet and the steps to decrease nuclear threat . The conference is organized by the Italian MFA as a current G8 chairman, American NGO ?Nuclear Security Project? and World Political Forum headed by the USSR ex-President Mikhail Gorbachev. As is known, Kazakhstan is one of the leaders of the global non-proliferation process. ?This leadership was recently confirmed by President Nursultan Nazarbayev who stated Kazakhstan?s readiness to consider hosting the international nuclear fuel bank under the auspices of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)?, the Kazakh MFA?s message notes.
