Second population census in sovereign Kazakhstan

ASTANA. February 18. KAZINFORM The eleventh in general and the second on the territory of sovereign Kazakhstan 2009 national census has its own characteristics, the most important of which includes the fact that it is held in a lawful sovereign state and in the country, which completed the transition to market relations.

Nine years have past since the last population census. Radical changes in the socio-political and economic organization of our country have taken place during this time. In order to implement the Resolution of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated 28 November 2007 № 1138 ?On the national census of the Republic of Kazakhstan in 2009? and ?On establishment of the Republican Commission for a national census of the Republic of Kazakhstan in 2009? dated 15 February 2008 № 143 there will be the National census from February 25 to March 6, 2009. The critical time of the census will be 12 hours of the night from 24 to 25 February. Kazakh Statistics Agency have gathered and studied material of previous censuses, socio-demographic research, took into account proposals and notes of demographic scientists including other specialists, recommendations and experience of international organizations to hold such events. 70 census divisions, 569 instruction sections, 2338 main accounting stations and 32 more (at the railway station, bus station, airport, hospitals, hotels, orphanages, special institutions of closed type and MIA, ME objects and others) will be created in the city. The value of the forthcoming census is that it shows the present situation and it also helps predict the future: development of the society, what it will be in 10-30 years. The population census is the matter of our whole society. Statistic agents, civil servants of all levels should contribute to its successful implementation as well as businessmen, heads of all departments and it needs support and amiability of the population .
