Second solar power plant under construction in Zhambyl region
The plant's capacity will be 50 MW. It bears to remind that in December 2012 Kordai district of Zhambyl region commissioned the first in Kazakhstan and Central Asia solar plant "Otar". The cost of construction of the first stage of SPP "Otar" amounted to about USD 1.33 million of private investment. According to the press service of the regional administration, today Governor of Zhambyl region Karim Kokrekbayev has familiarized himself with the construction process of SPP "Burnoye Solar 1". Head of the region stressed the importance of innovative projects related to renewable energy in the wake of Expo-2017 which will be carried out in our country. The construction of the solar power plant in Zhualy District attracted foreign investors in the face of the British company "United Green". In addition there has been established a joint venture "Samruk Kazyna - United Green". The total cost of "Burnoye Solar 1" SPP amounted to 23.5 billion tenge. There have been installed 192 thousand solar panels to generate electricity. The plant has employed 250 people. Moreover, before the end of the year investors plan to expand the SPP's capacity to 100 megawatts.
