Seminar on implementation of ?Shanghai? and ?Moscow? agreements opens in Almaty
ASTANA. April 8. KAZINFORM /Dauren Zhailin/ Regional seminar on adherence to ?Shanghai? (1996) and ?Moscow? (1997) agreements between Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and China on building confidence in the military field and mutual reduction of armed forces in border areas has been opened today in Almaty.
As Deputy Defense Minister of Kazakhstan Lieutenant General Bulat Sembinov noted, inspection and notification activity,strengthening of confidence-building measures and cooperation between near-border departments of armed forces and frontier service of the joint side and China will be discussed.
The holding of the seminar is devoted to the 10 anniversary of the first session of the Joint Monitoring Group that is the working body on implementation of the ?Shanghai? and the ?Moscow? agreements with China.
Representatives of participating countries, including the Armed Forces and Frontier Service of the National Security Committee of Kazakhstan will take part in the seminar.
