Senate ratified CIS Treaty on combating legalization of criminal proceeds and terrorism financing
ASTANA. March 3. KAZINFORM /Muratbek Makulbekov/ Today at a plenary session the Upper Chamber of the Kazakh Parliament has adopted the Law On ratification of CIS Treaty on combating legalization of criminal proceeds and terrorism financing.
According to Minister of Finance Bolat Zhamishev, who presented the bill, the Treaty was signed by the CIS countries on October 5, 2007 in Dushanbe. Except for Kazakhstan, the document has not been ratified by Tajikistan yet.
The Treaty aims at improvement of the legal basis of countering legalization of criminal proceeds and terrorism financing.
In accordance with the Treaty the parties are obliged to cooperate in harmonization of legislation, provision of legal assistance, carrying out confiscation, launching investigative measures, holding consultations and exchange of experts.
